Communications Specialist

Reports To: Media Design Specialist

Performance Physical Therapy is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Specialist to manage our external and internal communications. The Communications Specialist will promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on our company’s behalf.

Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills make a strong communications specialist. Experience in corporate communications and project management are important qualities too.

The Communications Specialist will be a part of Performance Physical Therapy’s marketing team and will participate in strategy meetings and all aspects of marketing. The Communications Specialist will work independently and with other clinical, administrative and executive employees to create high-quality content that engages our audience, gets our message across clearly, and welcomes responses.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Communications Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Interviewing patients and physical therapists for comprehensive and engaging patient success stories
  • Working closely with physical therapists and other content experts to develop clinical educational content for layperson readers
  • Writing blog posts each month related to that month’s marketing theme, developing content through working with physical therapists, athletic trainers and online sources
  • Assisting in writing and editing internal documents, like newsletters to employees and outside businesses, and internal policy and process documents
  • Maintaining a media list, and writing and sending press releases and media alerts to that list
  • Keeping our website updated with biographies on each employees, and writing and editing website pages so they clearly communicate Performance Physical Therapy’s services
  • Answering writing and editing questions for individuals across all departments
  • Writing social media blurbs for blog posts, patient stories, and podcasts
  • Tracking planned and completed blog posts and patient stories in a clear way
  • Photographing and videoing physical therapists and others for marketing materials

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player with superior analytical and interpersonal skills, as well as willingness to learn new tools. Ideal candidates will also have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing, or equivalent professional experience
  • 2 - 5 years experience in content writing
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • Passion for reading and writing
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Prior use of InDesign, Photoshop and web-site management tools (or a willingness to learn)

Our new location will feature our second Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill, a larger treatment area, gym, therapy pool and enable us to offer additional group exercise and wellness classes.
